Founded by Alvah C. Roebuck in 1896, Enterprise Optical Manufacturing Company initially produced projectors and audio systems for theaters, homes, and schools. The first theater-grade 35mm projector, the ‘Motiograph Model 1-A’, was released in 1911. In 1924 Roebuck sells Enterprise Optical and in 1936 the company is renamed Motiograph, Inc. releasing the popular Model K projector. By 1969, the company stopped renewing copyrights, and the last corporate listing was placed in 1973.

Reinstated under its founding title in 2024, Enterprise Optical Manufacturing Company is an independent motion picture entity.
